- 656: in Spain the VII Council of Toledo begins.
- 871: in Wasit (Iraq) an earthquake is registered that leaves a balance of 20,000 victims. (Possibly it is the same earthquake that was recorded as happened on June 22, 872).
- 1096: in Spain, Pedro I, king of Navarra and Aragon, conquers Huesca.
- 1226: near the Kurdish village of Halabja, about 240 km northeast of Baghdad (Iraq) at 06:00 (local time) an earthquake of magnitude 6.3 on the Richter seismological scale (intensity IX) with epicenter at a depth of 9 km. Saddam Hussein and General Ali Hassan al-Mayid (“Ali the Chemist”) carried out the chemical attack on Halabja in 1988, with more than 5000 civilian victims.
- 1307: in Switzerland, according to legend, the national hero William Tell performs the feat of hitting an apple placed on the head of his son.
- 1421: In the Netherlands, between the night of the 18th and the early morning of the 19th, a torrential storm breaks a dike in Wieldrecht.
